What is “Male Gaze”?

The'male gaze' describes a perspective in heterosexual male viewpoints, in which women are objectified as passive subjects for their visual enjoyment and sexual desire. This phenomenon is widely seen in visual arts and literature, such as movies, advertisements, and comics. In these works, the camera or imagery often focuses on the sexualized parts of a woman’s body, portraying women as "objects for male admiration".

Beside that, the scope of “male gaze” extends beyond the screen and art, but it also happens in our everyday life. On the street, at school, in the office, or even in any public place, women are often subjected to unwelcome stares, being looked up and down, scrutinized, or commented on, and these unfriendly gazes frequently cause discomfort.
