A Heartfelt Message from Us
Five months is neither long nor short. For us, the curatorial process felt like a tug-of-war with time. We worried the content might be too profound for the audience to understand, and feared the materials weren’t solid enough to present the issue fully.
Along the way, we discovered that many people “know there’s a problem, but dare not speak out.” That confirmed our reason for choosing this topic.
While listening to interviewees’ stories, we kept asking: “Why do these things keep happening?” We also questioned how to amplify these voices without consuming their pain, and how the exhibition could leave something behind—something for people to take with them.
We felt anxious, discouraged, and doubtful. At times, we wanted to give up. But moments kept pulling us back—like that short but powerful note in the questionnaire:
“Thank you for choosing to address this topic.”
Maybe we didn’t do it perfectly, but we tried to bring unspoken experiences into everyday conversations.
This project became our “whistle,” a reminder that unease and silence should never be seen as “normal” or “not a big deal.” Every voice, no matter how small, deserves to be heard.
Thank you to everyone who opened their hearts to us; to every teacher, interviewee, and legal professional who supported us; and to every team member for their dedication.
And thank you—for being here, reading this.
If one day, someone around you goes through something similar, and you choose to stop and quietly listen—
Then the whistle we blew… was worth it.
—— Team of Break the Silence

You don’t have to be brave right away.
It’s okay to slow down or pause.
That’s how you protect yourself.

We hope this exhibition can help someone face their story, or teach another not to judge someone else's pain too easily, it’s the ripple we are looking forward to.

Here’s a whistle, blow it,
and the world will hear you.

No means no.
Feeling uncomfortable is reason enough, refusal needs no explanation.

The wind hears you, the rain hears you, the stars hear you. And if you’re willing, we’re here to listen too. Wishing you well, friend we haven’t met.

Keep going, truth is never alone!
For every voice that has ever been slighted!

Turning silence into testimony is something we are all capable of.
You are not bound by the world. You are real, alive, a being flowing freely with warmth.
